How Can We Overcome Adversity?
Letter to the Author
Students will write a letter to Laurie Halse Anderson about their experience reading Speak. Once they complete the letter they will select one line they are particularly proud of and submit it on the Padlet. They will then use all the lines from their classmates to construct a poem of at least 10 lines which resembles the one we read in class.

Choose 2 characters from the novel and create a chat session between them. The conversation must be realistic in terms of the story. You have the choice to take the time to format it as a text message conversation. You can also submit it as a messenger conversation, sacrificing part of your production mark.

Visual Representation of Melinda's Setting - Due Tuesday Feb. 13th
Students are responsible for completing a visual representation of the different setting we've explored in the novel. They should be as creative as possible in creating them. A sheet split into 6 sections is the absolute last resort. This is a production mark and will be graded based on the creativity involved and not their artistic abilities (I can barely draw stick figures!)
Settings: School, Art Room, Heather's Room, Home, Closet, Melinda's Bedroom.
